About the Programme
The Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year professional course designed to prepare students as skilled nurses and midwives. Recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme equips students with theoretical knowledge, clinical training, and hands-on experience to work in hospitals, clinics, and community healthcare centers.

Duration
- Course Length: 3 years (inclusive of internship)
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours (theory + practical + clinical training)

Eligibility
- Educational Qualification:
- 10+2 pass in Science/Arts/Commerce with minimum 40% marks, English compulsory
- Vocational ANM or healthcare stream (recognized by INC) also eligible
- Age: 17–35 years
- Medical Fitness: Must be certified medically fit
- Reservation: As per government norms

Clinical Training
Our students undergo 2,600+ hours of clinical practice in leading hospitals and health centers. Training includes:
- Medical & Surgical Wards: Bedside care, pre- and post-operative care
- Maternity Units: Antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care; assisting in deliveries
- Pediatric Wards: Infant and child healthcare
- Psychiatric Units: Mental health nursing
- Community Health Centers: Health education, rural health services, preventive healthcare
Night duties and rotational postings are mandatory to provide real-world exposure.
Examination & Evaluation
- Internal Assessment (25%) – Assignments, class tests, clinical performance
- Board Examination (75%) – Conducted by State Nursing Examination Board
- Passing Marks:
- 50% in theory and practicals separately
- 40% in English
- 75% attendance in theory and 100% in clinical training required
Internship (Final Year)
Internship is an integral part of the programme. Students gain supervised experience in:
- Medical-Surgical Nursing – 9 weeks
- Midwifery & Gynecology – 12 weeks
- Pediatrics – 3 weeks
- Community Health – 3 weeks
- Psychiatry – 2 weeks
This practical exposure builds confidence and prepares students for independent nursing roles.
