About the Programme

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a four-year undergraduate programme approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and State Nursing Council. This degree prepares students to become professional nurses, leaders, and healthcare providers equipped with strong clinical skills, evidence-based knowledge, and ethical values.

Duration

  • Course Length: 4 years (including internship)

  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours (theory, labs, clinical training)

  • Internship: Comprehensive hospital & community-based training in the final year


Eligibility

  • Education:

    • 10+2 pass in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with minimum 45% marks (40% for reserved categories)

    • English as a compulsory subject

  • Age: Minimum 17 years on or before 31st December of the admission year

  • Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit (certificate required)

  • Reservation: As per government norms

Clinical Training

B.Sc. Nursing students complete over 4,000 hours of clinical practice across specialties, including:

  • Medical-Surgical Units: Critical care, emergency, and general wards

  • Maternity & Obstetrics: Antenatal, intranatal, postnatal care, conducting deliveries

  • Pediatrics: Infant, child, and adolescent healthcare

  • Psychiatry & Mental Health Units

  • Community Health Nursing: Rural postings, school health, public health services

Students undergo night duties, rotational postings, and supervised internships to ensure real-world readiness.


Examination & Evaluation

  • Internal Assessment: 25% (assignments, seminars, clinical performance)

  • University Examination: 75% (theory & practicals)

  • Passing Criteria:

    • 50% in theory & practicals separately

    • 75% attendance in theory and 100% in clinical training required


Internship (Final Year)

The internship provides hands-on supervised training in:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing – 12 weeks

  • Midwifery & Gynecology – 12 weeks

  • Pediatrics – 8 weeks

  • Community Health Nursing – 8 weeks

  • Psychiatry – 4 weeks

  • Nursing Management & Leadership – 4 weeks
